Our client Chemours, global producers of industrial chemicals, recently called our installation team in to replace two floor standing heaters which had damaged heat exchangers at their Meekings Road warehouse in Sudbury.
The defective heat exchangers had corroded over time due mainly to the atmospheric conditions they had been subjected to.
Following a site assessment and our subsequent recommendations, the existing galvanised panel heat exchangers were replaced with uprated stainless steel versions which draw in combustion air from the outside to help overcome future corrosion problems and therefore prolong the life of the equipment.
The project, including removal the existing equipment, alterations to the existing installation and relocation of the new exchangers, took 4 days to complete and was wholly project managed by us.
Due to the highly volatile nature of the chemicals produced and stored on site, our installation team had to comply with very stringent health and safety regulations including wearing full PPE, cordoning off the work area and completing daily work permits to complete the installation.
After completion, Gary Martin – Chemours Contract Co-ordinator at the site commented:
“Can you please pass my thanks onto Karl and his team for a first class job installing the heaters at Meekings Rd, they adhered to all our site safety procedures and completed the job without incidents or injury.”
